Our Story
Welcome to The French Laundry Co.
(formerly French Cleaners)
Established in 1986, The French Laundry Co. has proudly served Boston from our corner in the South End—long before the neighborhood became what it is today. Growing alongside our community and caring for our neighbor's garments has always been both our privilege and our purpose.
In early 2024, we were presented with the opportunity to purchase our longtime home at 538 Tremont Street. With the goal of independent ownership and continued excellence. April 2024 being fortunate in becoming the custodians we were able to do that, ensuring the ability to service our community for years to come.
In May 2024, we reintroduced ourselves as The French Laundry Co., operating exclusively from our flagship location in Boston’s South End.
This next chapter allows us to deliver an even higher level of quality, flexibility, and service—while staying true to the standards our clients have trusted for decades.
Our Process
Every garment entrusted to us is cared for entirely on site and pressed completely by hand—from start to finish.
Not hand-finished. Not hand-touched-up.
Fully hand-pressed, on premises, using a handheld iron.
-
All shirts and blouses are washed on site, drip-dried, and hand-pressed
-
All dry cleaning is performed on site and pressed by hand
-
All linens—sheets, tablecloths, napkins, and more—are washed, drip-dried, and hand-pressed
Yes, it’s a lot of work. And yes, it takes more time.
But this is the level of care our clients expect—and deserve.
A Standard Built for Fine Garments
When garments from designers such as Zegna, Loro Piana, Hermès, or Tom Ford come through our doors, they are treated with the same meticulous attention we apply to every piece.
Buttons are covered when necessary. Cleaning cycles are tailored. Water temperature, handling, and finishing are carefully considered so that when your garment is ready, it is truly ready to go—for any occasion.
We have great respect for traditional commercial dry cleaning, and there are many excellent options in Boston. Our approach is simply different. It is slower, more deliberate, and rooted in craftsmanship.
